Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament

The 2nd Annual Dan Trant Classic boys and girls AAU Tournaments will be held this spring at NorthSport to honor the memory of Dan Trant, who passed away on 9/11/01. Trant was a Division 3 All-American at Clark University who was drafted by his beloved Boston Celtics. He played several years in the USBL and overseas in Ireland.

He was, however, best known for the countless hours he volunteered in his community teaching kids the game of basketball. His passion and love for kids was unsurpassed. He coached teams in CYO, Town Leagues and AAU for the Long Island Lightning. Dan not only taught the game of basketball, but his character, commitment and the example he set as a father to his 3 children was an inspiration to everyone.

We are keeping Dan Trant’s memory alive by hosting a tournament in his name. Our goal is to continue to pass on the message that he conveyed to all the players who had an opportunity to play for him.

DIRECTOR - Rob Pavinelli

Coach Pavinelli is recognized as one of the finest coaches on LI during his tenure as the Varsity Basketball Coach at St. Dominic. He guided his teams to several Long Island Championships as well as a NY State Championship. His knowledge, attention to skill development and dedication has helped send dozens of players on to play at everylevel of college basketball. He also has vast experience on the youth level for both boys and girls, coaching teams for CYO programs as well as AAU with the Long Island Lightning. Over the last 20 years he has served as Director of one of the largest and most successful summer basketball camps on Long Island. Under Coach Pavinelli’s direction, the NorthSport Camp staff will provide campers with the finest basketball instruction, positive reinforcement and a fun, learning environment.

STAFF

NorthSport basketball staff will be comprised of some of the finest HS coaches in the area to assure the highest level of instruction and supervision. All coaches selected are current HS coaches, or former College and HS coaches with years of experience and knowledge.

REFUNDS / CANCELLATIONS

All cancellations MUST be made two weeks prior to camp session. Cancellations after the two week period will be given as a credit towards summer camp in 2013. All deposits are non-refundable. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

LUNCH

Campers can bring lunch or purchase from the NorthSport menu. The NorthSport lunch menu will be available on our website to print out and drop off or mail in. The menu last year offered pizza, sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs.
